...for Making the 2013 SafeTeen Georgia Driving Academy a Success

On Saturday, May 4, 2013, the Safe America Foundation held its seventh annual SafeTeen Georgia Driving Academy at Cobb Galleria. The event was a huge success attracting nearly 1,000 attendees throughout the day.

We thank all our event’s partners, sponsors, exhibitors, law enforcement agency supporters, musical performers and, most especially, the teens and parents for making the 2013 Driving Academy one of the best ever! A very special thank you to Pip and Miss Manhatten (NY) Amanda Mason for drawing attention to the 2013 event.

Singer Pip, from season 2, of NBC's popular music reality show The Voice, will perform during the Safe America Foundation’s annual teen driving safety expo –the SafeTeen Georgia Driving Academy – taking place on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. Pip will use his appearance to raise awareness of the dangers of impaired and distracted driving, as well as other driving safety issues that impact teens.

Op-Ed: Three Ideas for Reducing Teen Traffic Deaths

The following Op-Ed ran in the Marietta Daily Journal on Sunday, February 10, 2013.

Last week, a huge sadness hung over Cobb County because two Sprayberry High School graduates –— Stephen Nolasco, age 19, and Matthew Bennett, age 18 — died Sunday morning in a horrific car crash on Sandy Plains Road. The accident was only 300 yards from Safe America's office, visible to me and other staff members as we drove to and from work this week.

Stephen and Matt's deaths caused an incredible outpouring of grief. Yet, it's only the latest of a series of tragedies that seem to happen every year in Cobb County and metro Atlanta.

How can we impact this horrific problem? Here are three common sense suggestions>>
